My friend from work is the president of the Ebony Cultural Society. They hosted a Sweetheart Dinner on Saturday and a praise concert on Sunday. The proceeds go to scholarships for local high school kids. We had a great time. The dinner was lovely. Everyone was dressed to the nines. They had a DJ playing music while we ate, and the food was all hand prepared as we ordered it. Delicious stuff.
But I have to say, the praise concert was my favorite part of the weekend. Especially the city-wide mass choir that sang. Wonderful, joyful songs that had us all singing, standing, and clapping. The choir is supposed to perform several times this year. I hope my friend makes sure I know when they're singing.
And as a lucky side note, I saw that Rodney Crowell and Ruthie Foster are both doing local concerts. Might have to go to those too!
