There's just always something going on. Lots of carting kids around to events. L is the manager of the high school basketball team. G is on the 7th grade B team, though she's already been bumped to the A team to play a game too, and I think that may happen several more times over the season. She improves dramatically game to game.
Still doing lots of stuff for the church: teaching young and not so young ones to play ukulele. Had a "this is why I do this" moment a week ago. One of the ladies who's probably closer to my mom's age than mine is playing, and we played "Joy to the World". She played it straight through with no mistakes and then shrieked a little and started laughing. She said, "This is the first time in my life I've ever played a whole song on anything at all! Who knew I'd be doing this at my age!" Seeing that pure joy take over someone makes it all worthwhile. Tonight, one of the younger ones (she's probably about six) decided that it was easier to play the uke with it lying on her lap, so she's playing it more like a steel guitar or something. It was cool. She figured it out by herself that way. It was easier for her, and she sounds great playing like that. It was fun.
Still doing our Sunday thing too where we visit the elderly residences. I really love that. The people are so sweet and so appreciative. But my favorite thing is that I get to bake all the things that I really want to bake but not have around the house because I'll eat them all. This week, I made red velvet cake and lemon bars. They loved them, and we didn't eat every bite ourselves.
And work is good. I'm learning and contributing a little more each day. I really like the people. I like learning so much. I like that what I'm doing is helping young people grow. And I love being able to be off when the kids are for the most part. It's so much easier to really devote my time to what I'm doing at work when I know I will actually have a little time to enjoy away from it too. It's a neat place. I sort of feel like I'm finally "home" at work now.
And that's all I have time for right now. I've got to get G to school for basketball practice.

Tonight will be relaxing. I brought home Papa Murphy's pizza and Big G will be coloring my hair with Lush's Caca Marron. Yay. :)
